Conducting a Conformation Show (Zuchtschau)
§1
Affiliated clubs of the DKV are required to conduct one conformation show (Zuchtschau) every two years. Several clubs may conduct a conformation show in conjunction with each other.
§2
The reason for a conformation show is as follows: Besides judging the conformation according to the standards of paragraph 3B of the breed regulations is to determine if the dog is breedable or not breedable. Providing that the dog in question has already passed a performance test (Solms, AZP, HZP, VGP), the breedable or not breedable notation is stamped on the front of the pedigree (Ahnentafel). Dogs who have not yet passed a test before a conformation show receive a certificate of the results of the conformation judgement, which should be presented to the Club President as soon as the required performance test has been achieved. At that time the results of both performance and conformation tests are marked on the pedigree (Ahnentafel).
§3
a) In the first yearly issue of the Kurzhaar-Blaetter which follows the yearly annual meeting, a list of the conformation judges is published.
b) It is not permitted that an officiating judge at a conformation show judges dogs bred by him or first generation offspring of the same. This fact is also true for dogs purchased.
c) Above that the conformation judge should not judge if he/she is intimidated for personal reasons. The rejection of a judge by an owner or a handler is not permitted.
§4
The evaluation of the conformation and the breedability of the dog is based on the definition of the standards and the DKV breeding regulations by one judge or three judges (judges group), who are appointed by the DKV President as long as the show is put on by the DKV and the Club President, if the club holds the conformation show. According to the same rules the Senior judge is elected. There should be at least three judges present, to give the majority of members the opportunity to accumulate information in the area of conformation judging. The senior judge of a group should already have been practicing conformation judging several times and have the most experience.

§5
The evaluation of a dog is based on the following predicates:
Vorzueglich, V=Excellent
Sehr Gut, SG=Very Good
Gut, G=Good
Genuegend, Gen.=Acceptable
Ungenuegend, Unge.=Not Acceptable
The single judge or the group senior judge has to give a verbal description of the evaluation by emphasizing the superior qualities, especially the faults and shortcomings of the dog. The owner of the dog will receive a certificate with the results of the evaluation. The decision of the conformation is final and legal procedures are not acceptable.
§6
Males and bitches are to be judged separately according to age. The youth or puppy group consists of dogs to the age of 18 months. The highest evaluation predicate is SG (Sehr Gut = Very Good). Dogs over the age of 18 months are classified as the adult group. Because of Entropion, Ectropion and Distichiasis (extra row of eye lashes), dogs treated for these conditions must be reported before the conformation show.
§7
These regulations are binding independently from the regulations that the VDH ( Verband fuer das Deutsche Hundewesen) and the FCI ( Federation Cynologique International) uses for their shows. Judges requested from VDH and the FCI will be recommended by the DKV President. These Conformation Show Regulations were enacted by the DEUTSCH KURZHAAR VERBAND at the annual meeting on 19 March, 1988.
