NADKC News Highlights
2010 Pheasant Fest
In the heart of Bird Dog Alley right next to the Youth Village, the North American Deutsch Kurzhaar Club was well represented as club members staffed a booth for the fourth consecutive year at the National Pheasant Fest, hosted by Pheasants Forever. This year the event, which drew 20,230 attendees, was held 26-28 February at the Iowa Event Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Pheasant Fest attracts hunters and their families–many with hunting dogs and provides an excellent opportunity for NADKC volunteers to talk about the many virtues of the Deutsch Kurzhaar and the performance based testing system proven over time to consistently produce quality versatile hunting dogs.
Rich Runge, Director of Promotions, and Mike Murphy are to be credited for one of the most impressive Pheasant Fest booths to date. Old barn siding with displays were almost as striking as the photos of our Kurzhaars in the field and water! A DK video slideshow was an eye catcher and often times stopped visitors in their tracks in front of the NADKC booth and from just walking by.
The DKs were the other eye catcher, and it seemed as if the crowd thoroughly enjoyed visiting with both Calli, a four month old female DK solid liver puppy, and Bo, a three year old male black and white DK.
Many thanks go out to club volunteers: Rich Runge, Dave Henderson, Steve Waters, Steve Remspecher, Mike and Lana Hambley, and John Kreuscher with Aaron Kreuscher for staffing the booth and representing the club throughout the weekend.
Next year's Pheasant Fest will in Omaha, Nebraska, on 28-30 January.
